GalleryBitch is an application in BETA stadium and stil under development. You can test it, but I don't guarantee its functionality!
Motivation
During my last internet site update, I integrated a cute PHP script written bei Tobias Frech (www.tobifrech.de) to generate a gallery from my server folder structure. It generates an overview of all albums and a thumbnail view for each album on the fly.
The script requires a sudden folder structure to work properly. For each album in the gallery it requires a folder named like "2004-09-25_Great holiday pictures" to create a list with album entries. This album root ordner then contains one folder with the normal-sized-images, the second contains thumbnails.
Creating the thumbnails and the folder structure to finally get the gallery up on the server alwys was a procedure of opening ACDSee, copying, resizing, copying and then opening Total Commander to uploading everything to the server.
So why not make all that easier with a nice little app?
What is GalleryBitch?
GalleryBitch is a tool that allows you to create the files for a web gallery easily. If you have a folder full of large pictures you want to batch-resize to smaller versions and thumbnails at the same time, this is the tool! Let GalleryBitch resize all the pictures add watermarks to them and when you upload them on your FTP server!
GalleryBitch lets you specify:
- - the folder structure to create
- - width and height of full pictures and thumbnails
- - JPG compression quality
- - Watermark details (text, color, opacity, position...)
- - FTP details (server, username,..)
What GalleryBitch is NOT:
If you are looking for a tool to create HTML files from you images, I'm sorry to disappoint you. GalleryBitch resizes images and stores them into a folder structure suitable for a PHP script which in turn creates a gallery on the fly. Of course, GalleryBitch does more for you, but it doesn't create HTML files.
